Championship Final Day Recap
Middlesbrough drew first blood at home to Brighton when David Nugent squared a cross to Cristhian Stuani, who netted from close range per Sky Sports Football League:
As Squawka Football revealed, Boro had reason to feel confident having taken the lead:
It was level shortly after half-time, though, thanks to Dale Stephens' header:
Just four minutes later, Stephens' afternoon was cut short when he received his marching orders for following through on Gaston Ramirez:
Hindered by their sending-off, Albion were unable to find the late winner they needed as Boro held on for the victory that takes them back to the English top flight.
Sam Vokes drew first blood for Burnley at the Valley, which was to be expected given his impressive scoring run against the Addicks, per Sky Sports Statto:
A quickfire double from George Boyd and Andre Gray shortly after the restart sealed their title win.
The Owls had secured their play-off place but were unable to improve on sixth place, and they named a much-changed side at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The hosts quickly ended a lengthy goal drought at home, per journalist Tim Spiers:
George Saville doubled their lead before half-time, and Wolves held on despite a late penalty from Lewis McGugan.
Unlike Wednesday, Hull enjoyed the perfect warm-up for the play-offs as they came from behind to beat Rotherham United.
Lee Frecklington gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes, but Robert Snodgrass, Abel Hernandez, Jake Livermore and Mohamed Diame all netted for the Tigers before half-time. Livermore added a second to wrap up the win.
A David McGoldrick spot-kick proved decisive as Ipswich Town beat Derby at Pride Park, while Tom Cairney gave Fulham a deserved 1-0 win against the hapless Bolton Wanderers.
Brentford took an early lead at Huddersfield Town when an error from Martin Cranie allowed Sergi Canos to find the net after just 21 seconds. Jamie Paterson replied in the second half, but Scott Hogan's brace and goals from Lasse Vibe and John Swift saw the Terriers enjoy a rampant final day.

Yann Kermorgant's free-kick pulled one back for Reading, after volleys from Elliott Bennett and Danny Graham had put Blackburn Rovers 2-0 up, but the Royals were unable to mount a comeback as Simeon Jackson rounded out the scoring late on.
BBC Sport's Dafydd Pritchard ran the rule over Cardiff City and Birmingham City's clash at half-time, with David Cotterill and Anthony Pilkington on the scoresheet:
The game finished 1-1, as did Leeds United's match at Preston North End after goals for Chris Wood and Jordan Hugill.
Chris Cohen fired Nottingham Forest into the lead against MK Dons, and despite an equaliser from Nicky Maynard and a red card for Danny Fox before half-time, Forest claimed all three points thanks to Britt Assombalonga's second-half strike.
Elsewhere, Karl Henry grabbed the winner as Queens Park Rangers sunk Bristol City 1-0.
Brighton will need to get over their disappointment quickly if they're to progress through the play-offs, which are sure to contain all the drama and excitement we've come to expect.
All four teams have been excellent this season—Brighton and Hull in particular, as reflected in their league position—so whoever best holds their nerve is likely to win promotion.
