Warriors Set NBA Record vs. Rockets for Most 3-Pointers in Playoff Game

Mike NorrisApr 24, 2016

The Golden State Warriors may have been without Stephen Curry for the second half on Sunday against the Houston Rockets, but it didn't stop them from setting yet another NBA record.

A fourth-quarter three-pointer from Brandon Rush was the team's 21st, setting the record for the most in a playoff game, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle

Golden State connected on 21 of 40 shots from downtown and was led by Klay Thompson, who was 7-of-11. Nine players hit at least one trey, including Curry, who was 1-of-7 before exiting with a knee injury.

Draymond Green didn't mince words when describing his team's hot shooting, per ESPN.com"Let's not fool ourselves. When you hit the shots we're hitting, things are going to go your way," he said.

Thompson seemed to think he needed to step up with Curry out, according to ESPN.com.

"I was trying to raise our level of intensity," he said, also per ESPN.com. "When you play with emotion and play for your teammates, you can really get going. If we have that same emotion and intensity on Wednesday, we should be successful."

The Warriors took a 3-1 lead on the Rockets with the strong performance, which included 41 total points in the third quarter. Curry set the NBA single-season record for three-pointers made with 402, and the Warriors averaged 13.1 made per game.

Skip Bayless of ESPN was surprised they set the record without much contribution from last year's MVP:

The Warriors proved they can play well without Curry, and the reigning MVP only tallying one three-pointer en route to this record shows just how dangerous the rest of the team is from beyond the arc.
