Deportivo vs. Barcelona: Goals, Highlights from the La Liga Fixture

Joe GallagherApr 20, 2016

Barcelona, fresh from their defeat at the hands of Valencia on Sunday, visited Deportivo on Wednesday night looking to reignite their stuttering Liga campaign.

Having seen a seemingly insurmountable lead at the top of the table evaporate in a matter of weeks, Luis Enrique's side went into the match leading Atletico Madrid on head-to-head record only. The pressure was on:

Not that it bothered the visitors early on, when Luis Suarez swept in a corner after 11 minutes.

Barcelona were made to sweat soon after when Marc Bartra's last-minute intervention prevented a swift equaliser:

But after 25 minutes, Suarez fired home his second from a sublime Leo Messi pass to make it 2-0.

It staed that way until half time, shortly after which Ivan Rakitic scored Barcelona's third.

And it was four just eight minutes into the second half when Suarez completed his hat-trick, once again combining with Messi.

The Uruguayan added to the tally after 64 minutes, tapping home from a Neymar cross to score his fourth and Barcelona's fifth.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner got in on the scoring himself, tapping home a Suarez assist with fifteen minutes to play.

Next up it was Bartra himself, who scored a fine individual goal to make it 7-0.

Seconds later it was Neymar's turn - his 81st-minute strike Barca's eighth.

That was all the suffering Deportivo would have to endure - Barcelona extending their lead at the top of the table to three points - momentarily at least.

What was that about a crisis?
