A Sergio Aguero hat-trick shot Manchester City to a 3-0 triumph over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, moving the Citizens into third and one point ahead of rivals Arsenal.

Earlier in the day, Manchester United kept the pressure on their top-four rivals following a 1-0 win over Aston Villa, whose relegation fate was finally sealed at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford netted his fourth Premier League goal of the campaign to fire United to victory just three days after his opener set manager Louis van Gaal's side on their way to an FA Cup victory over West Ham United.

Aguero Revives Golden Boot Pursuit

After falling behind the likes of Harry Kane (22) and Jamie Vardy (21) in the Premier League goal hunt, Aguero powered in a hat-trick to clinch a victory for Manchester City over Chelsea, bringing his haul for the season to 21.

The South American has now bagged five goals in his last five Premier League appearances, and ESPN FC's Jake Cohen highlighted the Citizens' record against the Blues has been particularly successful:

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was shown a straight red card late in the clash as Aguero converted his third goal of the evening from the 12-yard spot, having already penetrated the Belgian's goal twice.

Kevin De Bruyne and Samir Nasri were on hand to create Aguero's opening brace, and Sky Sports Football provided a look at the missed tackle on City midfielder Fernandinho:

Kane and Vardy have led the parade of English strikers this season, but a salvo from Aguero has brought him to within one goal of the lead and back into the Golden Boot hunt.

Rampant Rashford Downs Villa

Rashford proved to be the undoing of Villa in more ways than one on Saturday, as his 32nd-minute strike not only condemned the Birmingham outfit to a 1-0 defeat but also put the finishing touches on their relegation to the Championship for next season.

And after scoring his third goal in five games, talk arose of the Red Devils starlet potentially travelling with England to UEFA Euro 2016, and Football365's Daniel Storey noted he isn't the only one:

It's ironic that Wayne Rooney, captain of United and the national team, has struggled for the past 18 months or so to summon the kind of consistency Rashford is now showing, although his Euro 2016 place is far more assured.

Old Trafford made sure to show appreciation for the graft shown by the club's academy graduate, too, and uMAXitFootball posted footage of the standing ovation he received after coming off on Saturday:

The European Championships may come just too soon for the 18-year-old, but Rashford's sensational season continued, with Villa the latest team to fall victim to his killer touch in front of goal.

Daring Defoe a Late Euro Option?

Sunderland menace Defoe is another England option being toyed with lately, although the 55-cap forward is at the entirely opposite end of his career compared to the aforementioned Rashford.

Fabio Borini played a starring role against the Canaries and supplied a terrific ball for Defoe to net Sunderland's second at Carrow Road. And while he may be 33 years of age, Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News isn't likely to be the only one startled by his goal count this term:

A surprising 13 of those goals have come in league competition, but Betway have already decided the former Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Portsmouth and Bournemouth hitman won't be going to France:

Age, wisdom, experience; call it what you might, but Defoe has a poacher's touch in front of goal that few strikers can boast, and the 5'7" menace has scored goals wherever he's gone in his career.

England manager Roy Hodgson may not hold out major hopes for the striker in future, but this may be Defoe's last chance at playing in a major international tournament, and the Three Lions could do worse.
