Rules: Every European league is attributed a difficulty rating between one and two, with the more difficult leagues—such as the Premier League or La Liga—given the maximum rating.

The constant is then multiplied with a player's goal tally to give them their points total, so Eran Zahavi's 29 goals for Maccabi Tel Aviv are crossed with a factor of 1.5 to reach his 43.5 points.

Ronaldo Remains in the Hunt as Slimani and Vardy Progress

A commanding performance from Ronaldo saw him net his 30th La Liga goal of the season as well as produce two assists as Los Merengues ran riot on Saturday.

After James Rodriguez curled in a delightful free-kick just four minutes in, the Portuguese showed excellent strength to hold off a defender before passing to Lucas Vazquez, who made it 2-0. Journalist Dermot Corrigan was surprised at his generosity:

Ronaldo found the net himself from Jese Rodriguez's pass a minute later and then assisted the Spaniard for Real's fourth:

The goal marked a significant milestone for the 31-year-old—his sixth successive year of netting 30 or more goals in La Ligaas Bleacher Report UK revealed:

Ronaldo will be determined to fend off Jonas and Higuain for the award, and with his side's tendency to rack up plenty of goals against the league's lesser outfits, he may well do just that.

Slimani's impressive campaign in Portugal has perhaps gone under the radar thanks to Jonas, but he roared back into the top 10 with a brace on Monday and another goal on Saturday.

Football writer Jan Hagen captured his impact as Sporting thrashed Belenenses 5-1 on April 4:

He also turned home a rebound in their 3-1 win over Maritimo to take his tally to 23 for the season.

Vardy spent much of the campaign in the top 10 but gradually slipped out after a lengthy goalless run for the Foxes saw him overtaken by the likes of Harry Kane.

The Englishman scored twice on Sunday, though, to reignite his chances of finishing among the continent's top scorers and more importantly help Leicester edge closer to the Premier League title.

His first came from an exquisite ball over the top from Danny Drinkwater as the forward latched onto the ball and coolly finished beyond Vito Mannone, and he settled the Foxes' nerves with virtually the last kick of the game as he outpaced and outmuscled Patrick van Aanholt before rounding Mannone and tapping in.

Bleacher Report UK noted the significance of the strike:

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce noted the way the 29-year-old proved decisive in an otherwise tight affair, per Sky Sports Football:

Former Leicester forward Gary Lineker believes Vardy warrants a place in Roy Hodgson's England starting XI at the 2016 European Championship this summer:

Vardy's rise from non-league football to potentially winning the Premier League title has been nothing short of meteoric, and he is indeed more than worthy of consideration for the Three Lions in his current form.

While he's highly unlikely to win the Golden Shoe at this point, he could lift a far greater prize with Leicester.
