Manchester United vs. Everton sees Roberto Martinez bring his side to Old Trafford to attempt to avenge the 3-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of Louis van Gaal's men at Goodison Park in October 2015.

Neither side are in a reliable vein of form, with Everton having lost three and won three in their last six, and United having had two wins, two draws and two losses.

The day marks a special occasion at Old Trafford as the South Stand will be renamed in honour of Sir Bobby Charlton. Sir Bobby is still the club's top goal scorer of all time, though Wayne Rooney looks set to overhaul that record, as he did Charlton's England record.

The last time United renamed a stand was ahead of a 1-0 win over Sunderland on 5 November 2011, when the North Stand became the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand to mark the Scot's 25th anniversary in the job.

Van Gaal is unlikely to end his United career with any significant tributes, but he described Sir Bobby as one of his childhood heroes in his pre-match press conference. He also expressed his hope that United would be able to continue the good record he has managed against Everton.

Martinez said of the clash, per Everton's Twitter account, "United are still a team in transition. They won their derby and they could finish the season very strongly."

Team News

Van Gaal said that Luke Shaw is set to begin training on Monday and that Wayne Rooney is "doing great" in his recovery. He also told MUTV (h/t the club's website) that Ander Herrera, Ashley Young and Adnan Januzaj are on their way back into contention.

Bastian Schweinsteiger suffered injury on international duty, and as ManUtd.com put it, "he joins Will Keane on the list of absentees."

Martinez said on Friday, per Everton's website:

"

John [Stones] had just a little knock and is recovering very well from that. He had a good enough introduction with the group yesterday [Thursday], so I don’t expect any problems.

Bryan Oviedo has come back and has been training for a good period so I would consider him fully fit to get back into the squad.

Kevin Mirallas has finished his suspension, so we’ve recovered these two bodies from the last game. Everyone else is fully fit and has come back from international duty in good condition.

"

Predicted Lineups

The only real doubts as to the above lineup come in the centre of midfield and the exact makeup of the front four. Marouane Fellaini could feature against his former club, though his performances this season hardly warrant it.

Jesse Lingard has played centrally with Juan Mata wide on the right in United's past few games, but there is the possibility Van Gaal could swap them around here. There seems little chance of a start for Memphis Depay given Marcus Rashford's performance against Manchester City and the trouble Anthony Martial caused Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park.

Everton supporter @GameOfThrowIns suggests the Toffees could line up as above, though there is the possibility Martinez will return Stones or Gerard Deulofeu to the side.

Players to Watch

Rashford sends United into raptures at the Etihad.

For United, all eyes will be on the 18-year-old Rashford. His goal in the Manchester derby proved the difference between the two teams, and his all-round performance did enough to suggest the explosive start to his Old Trafford career had been far from a fluke.

Lukaku in action for the Toffees.

For Everton, it is hard to look past star striker Romelu Lukaku. He is currently third on the Premier League top scorers list, competing for the honour with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy. While he was unable to really influence the game at Goodison Park earlier in the season, he certainly has the ability to cause big problems for Daley Blind and Chris Smalling.

Key Battle

As covered in more detail here, Rashford's battle with Phil Jagielka could be absolutely key to this one.

Lukaku's battle with United's defence could be similarly so. In the centre of the park, United will need to ensure they get players beyond Muhamed Besic and James McCarthy in support of the attack.
