After squaring off against the Red Bulls, Toronto FC is slated to do battle with New York City FC on March 13 and Sporting KC on March 20 before the team goes on hiatus until April 2.
However, there are ramifications to Altidore's injury beyond missing a few games for his MLS side. As McIntyre noted, the United States men's national team has 2018 World Cup qualifiers fast approaching, with meetings against Guatemala slated for March 25 and March 29.
After bouncing around Europe for several years, Altidore landed with Toronto FC last season and immediately made an impact. Over the course of 25 appearances—including 21 starts—Altidore bagged 13 goals on 37 total shots and 18 shots on goal.
Should Altidore fail to make a rapid recovery, Toronto FC will be pressed for solutions up top as it seeks to maintain its offensive potency a year after finishing No. 2 overall in total goals scored.
