La Liga Fixtures 2016: Schedule, Live Stream and Week 24 Predictions

James DudkoFeb 11, 2016

Barcelona's clash with Celta Vigo highlights the La Liga fixtures in Week 24.

Barca still hold a three-point lead at the top, while Celta have fallen away in the race for fourth, trailing Villarreal by 10 points.

But manager Eduardo Berizzo will take comfort from the fact his team went to the Camp Nou and won last season, courtesy of a Joaquin Larrivey goal, while Celta destroyed Barca 4-1 at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos earlier in this campaign.

Preview

Madrid's game against Bilbao brings two in-form players head-to-head. Real's midfield playmaker Luka Modric has been revived since Zinedine Zidane took over as head coach, according to B/R's Sam Tighe:

But even the Croatia international would do well to match the importance of striker Aritz Aduriz to Bilbao. The 35-year-old is still prolific, netting 25 times already in all competitions this season, per WhoScored.com.

Aerial prowess has always been a feature of Aduriz's game, but it's his movement that is often overlooked. The combination is sure to pose problems for a Madrid defence still prone to lapses in concentration under Zidane.

One thing the Frenchman has ensured since he took over is plenty of goals at home. Los Merengues have scored 16 times in their last three games at the Santiago Bernabeu, per Sky Sports.

Expect Zidane's men to ultimately have too much firepower for Bilbao.

The availability of Lionel Messi will be the big talking point for Barcelona ahead of the visit of Celta. He's had issues with an ongoing kidney problem but was back in training recently, according to the club's official website.

Of course, with Luis Suarez and Neymar in the ranks, Barca are equipped to cope without Messi against most sides. Celta, though, are a cut above most opposition, at least on their day.

Berizzo's team boasts some fine attacking talent, including forward Iago Aspas, attacking midfielder Pablo Hernandez and winger Fabian Orellana.

It will take some more brilliance from Suarez for Barca to take all three points.

The status quo will remain at the top, but each of the three main contenders will be pushed hard in Week 24. These games are sure to provide a stern test of the strength in depth of the squads for Barca and both Madrid clubs.
