Italian Deadline Day Reporter Interrupted by Inflatable Banana

Transfer deadline day has become a slightly less exciting affair since Sky Sports News' reporters were no longer subject to fans on the street—and their purple foreign objects—during live reports.

However, the tradition of on-air high jinx appears to still be alive on Italy.

On Monday, a clip began circulating on Twitter of an Italian journalist filing a report from outside Stamford Bridge. The reporter, who appears to work for Italian channel SportItalia (as per the Mirror), is accosted by a member of the public with an inflatable banana.

Pretty soon, he loses patience with the interloper. 

The closest we came to such an event on UK television was some distant dancing at Watford:

The folks at The Football Republic were apparently unearthed this footage, and if all is not as it first seems, then hats off to a slick prank.
