In the midst of an epic beatdown at the hands of the Carolina Panthers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, the Arizona Cardinals' social media staff gave in to the dark side.

They used the MJ crying meme.

The Cardinals' Twitter page posted the viral photo after Cam Newton connected with Devin Funchess to extend the No. 1 seed’s lead to 40-15 late in the fourth quarter.

It was a smart move on the Cardinals’ part. Instead of just getting pummeled with the meme—and you know it was going to happen—the team embraced it.

Arizona lost the game, but it definitely won the Internet.
