UK Back Pages: Louis van Gaal Will Be Sacked If Man United Fall to Chelsea

Sean SwabyDec 27, 2015

If Monday's clash between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford doesn't go the hosts' way, it could spell the end of the Louis van Gaal era for the Red Devils.

The back pages are rife with speculation that the under-fire Dutchman will be sacked if United, winless in five Premier League games, fall against the visiting Blues.

The Mirror leads off relaying word of slumping and unmotivated players, along with Jose Mourinho mulling over the Real Madrid job as he waits to see how things unfold at Manchester United.

In the Sun, Van Gaal has "no answers," and the paper also speculates that Mourinho's keeping a keen eye on the situation at Old Trafford, as United is his managing preference.

While most of the speculation surrounds his sacking, the Telegraph reports that Van Gaal could voluntarily leave the club in the aftermath of Monday's match regardless of the result.

Star Sport has a similar tune to the Mirror front, but it's "Gaal Over" instead of "Game Over."
