EPL Table: 2015 Standings After Saturday's Week 16 Results and Top Scorers

James DudkoDec 12, 2015

Odion Ighalo struck yet again for Watford as the Hornets beat Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday. Elsewhere, Everton's Romelu Lukaku kept pace with Leicester City's Jamie Vardy after helping the Toffees to a draw at Norwich City.

It was also a day when Manchester City went top after some late heroics from Kelechi Iheanacho saw off a stubborn Swansea City outfit at the Etihad Stadium. Meanwhile, Manchester United lost ground when they were beaten at Bournemouth, a result that's lifted the Cherries above last season's champions, Chelsea.

Here are the final scores from Saturday:

Romelu Lukaku, 12 Goals

Lukaku has been an absolute terror for the Toffees this season. The beefy Belgian earned them a point at Carrow Road to continue his fantastic scoring run in the league.

WhoScored.com detailed that prolific form:

That run prompted former Everton and Leicester striker turned pundit Gary Lineker to take a tongue-in-cheek prod at Lukaku. He referenced the player's competition with Foxes frontman, and the division's top scorer, Vardy:

As he often does, Lukaku relied on the supply of Gerard Deulofeu. The mercurial winger again teed up the one-time Chelsea man, something that's been a frequent occurrence this season:

Lukaku is finally living up to his immense promise. Few strikers in the league can match his target-man size, electric pace, skill on the ground and dominance in the air.

Expect the goals to keep coming for a gifted striker buoyed by the expansive brand of football preached by Toffees manager Roberto Martinez.

Odion Ighalo, 10 Goals

Ighalo struck early, breaching the Sunderland defence after four minutes. It was a goal created by his now familiar mix of pace, power and relentless running.

The Nigerian powerhouse outmuscled Black Cats' centre-back Sebastian Coates to just get the final touch.

In the process, Ighalo set a piece of history for Watford in England's top flight, according to OptaJoe:

He's been a major revelation for the Hornets this season. Ighalo's partnership with the tough-running Troy Deeney is the main reason they've made such a smooth transition from the Championship.

Don't be surprised if big clubs come calling for the prolific 26-year-old.

The table now has a strange look to it with United's top-four status under threat, while defending champions Chelsea trail two of last season's three promoted teams.
