Fans weren't too pleased that Neville was vacating his punditry role alongside Jamie Carragher, and the inevitable question was: who would take his spot?

Serial football job applicant James Whitley has been at it again, posting to his "Football Genius" Twitter account a letter he sent in applying for the vacant position.
Whitley, who has previously thrown his name in the ring for vacancies at Real Sociedad, Manchester United, Liverpool and FIFA, urges Sky to consider him and says he is "more than happy to forfeit my Monday night dancing responsibilities" in order to land the gig.
He promises to bring "much needed razzmatazz" and a host of celebrity friends to the role.
The Mirror interviewed Whitley about his chances: "Despite having a bit of a healthy dig at Jamie Carragher in the letter, he read it and retweeted it on Twitter, so in my eyes I already have a good relationship with him, and his backing," he said.
"If appointed I'd inspire a lot of people... I think I have a chance of getting the gig."
UPDATE: Friday, 11th December
