Cristiano Ronaldo Reveals Details of Conversation with PSG's Laurent Blanc

Joseph ZuckerDec 9, 2015

Apparently Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't paving the way for a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain when he talked to PSG manager Laurent Blanc on the touchline during Real Madrid's 1-0 Champions League win on Nov. 3. Or maybe that's what the Madrid star wants you to think.

According to Goal.com's Chris Davie, Ronaldo was merely appreciative after receiving some praise from the former French international:

"

I have talked to many people. When people treat me well, I treat [them] well. A muddle that does not exist was put together. What happened with Blanc was that he had spoken very well about me before and I only thanked him for this declarations and I told him that I had liked them a lot. And with the Paris president, I have known him for many years. He seems very nice and he has always treated me well. That's what happened.

Ronaldo went on to further brush aside rumours of a PSG transfer, per Spanish football journalist Dermot Corrigan:

Almost as soon as the private conversation happened, speculation ran rampant regarding its meaning. After all, Paris Saint-Germain are one of the few clubs in the world who could feasibly afford to get Ronaldo, considering both his wage demands and transfer fee.

French newspaper Le Parisien (via Luke Augustus of the Daily Mail) reported in November that Ronaldo uttered what was a thinly veiled "come and get me" plea to Blanc.

Blanc declined to go into any detail about what he and Ronaldo said, further stoking the flames.

"Ronaldo told me certain things, yes," Blanc said shortly after the conversation, per Football 365 in France (via ESPN FC's Mark Rodden). "But as you might suspect, I won't say what it was. It was very complimentary anyway. I won't say any more about it."

Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, already went on record to Spanish TV show Elpartidodelas12 about how the 30-year-old intends to retire as a Madrid player (h/t Dave Wood of the Daily Mail), but such statements haven't quashed the rumblings a possible move and likely never will.

Although we finally have closure on the whole Blanc-Ronaldo saga, it's only a matter of time before another innocuous event is spun to signal Ronaldo's imminent departure from Real Madrid.
