Champions League 2015: Odds, Betting Tips for Tuesday's Matchday 6 Fixtures

Rory MarsdenDec 7, 2015

The final round of group fixtures in the 2015 Champions League begins on Tuesday with a number of sides still battling for qualification places.

Manchester United are under huge pressure, as they have to win at Wolfsburg to guarantee a place in the last 16 of Europe's premier club competition.

The Red Devils currently lie second behind the Bundesliga side in Group B but will be in serious danger of being leapfrogged by PSV Eindhoven—who play host to CSKA Moscow on Tuesday—if they do not win at the Volkswagen Arena.

United and Wolfsburg to Play out Goalless Draw

Wolfsburg can guarantee qualification with a draw and should not be expected to play for anything more than that.

Though they are at home, the German side will likely not take any unnecessary risks going forward, for fear that they could be caught out on the counter-attack and thus jeopardise their place in the last 16.

United will have to take the initiative, and they have struggled to find the back of the net of late, scoring only once in their last three matches.

Wolfsburg lost to Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, but it was their first home league defeat in over 18 months, per Squawka:

They are a tough nut to crack at the Volkswagen Arena, and Louis van Gaal's side do not look to have the firepower to pull off a victory.

At odds of 9-1, 0-0 looks to be a very attractive bet given that United have had five goalless results in their last nine matches.

Their defence is solid, but they are wholly uninspiring going forward, and given that Wolfsburg will surely sit deep to avoid conceding, a goalless draw seems a likely outcome for the match.

Real to Hit Malmo for Six

Real Madrid have already confirmed top spot in Group A, while Malmo sit bottom after just one win in five matches.

However, Los Blancos will be eager to make a show of strength as they head toward the last 16 in Europe given that they have been domestically humbled recently after the brutal defeat to Barcelona and ejected from the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player.

Though they are only four points back from Barca in La Liga, the Champions League is arguably Madrid's best chance of major silverware this term, and a drubbing of Malmo would see them through to the knockout stages in style.

Karim Benzema returned to form with a double in a 4-1 defeat of Getafe on Saturday to lift Real spirits, per the TimesGabriele Marcotti:

The other goals against Getafe came from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, an ominous sign for Malmo.

Last time out in the Champions League, the Swedish side were thrashed 5-0 at home by Paris Saint-Germain, and a similar fate surely awaits them at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.

With Real's front three in goalscoring form and Rafael Benitez side's looking to bounce back from a fairly miserable last few weeks, Malmo look ripe for humiliation.

A 6-0 Real win is priced at 16-1 and, given the circumstances and the respective form of both sides, could well be a decent bet for the ambitious punter.
