Mike Pettine Comments on Fixing the Browns, Job Security
The Cleveland Browns haven't been to the playoffs since 2002 and haven't recorded a winning season since 2007.
For 13 years, the Browns have been looking for a plan to return to the postseason. Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine, who is 2-14 in his last 16 games, insisted there's a chance to fix things going forward.
"I feel very upset about the record, and I've talked about this before: That's on us. We own it," Pettine said, per ESPN.com's Pat McManamon. "This is a bottom-line business, and where we are isn't good enough. The question is do we have a plan to fix it; is it fixable? I feel like we do. We'll have to wait and see."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It's been a tumultuous year for Pettine and the Browns, who are sitting at 2-9 and going through a quarterback situation that has been far from joyous. Josh McCown is out for the rest of the year after suffering a broken collarbone, and Austin Davis is the starting quarterback because Johnny Manziel can't stay out of trouble.
"I can't get wrapped up in all that now," Pettine said, per McManamon. "As the season winds down, that potentially could come up between the two of us."
The Browns are in position to land another top-five draft pick and need to acquire someone who can carry the franchise into the future. That was supposed to be Manziel, until the team demoted him to third string—and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns may shop the former Heisman Trophy winner elsewhere after the season.
It's just another bad season for the Browns. It also happens to be a mess that will take a grand plan to clean up, and if Pettine has that plan in place, it may buy him some more time.
