Week 14 College Football Betting Odds Picks: Alabama, Clemson, Michigan State
This is the last week for schools to make their closing statements in the debate regarding who should be among the final four in the College Football Playoff field.
As it stands now, the Clemson Tigers (12-0), Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1), Oklahoma Sooners (11-1) and Iowa Hawkeyes (12-0) are the teams headed to the national semifinals. Of that group, only Oklahoma will not be playing Saturday.
The first team to see action will be the second-ranked Crimson Tide, who meet the 18th-ranked Florida Gators (10-2) in the SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
This conference matchup lacks the luster of previous years when Urban Meyer was still coaching at Florida, giving Alabama head coach Nick Saban a significant edge as he looks to solidify his team’s status as one of the four best teams in the country.
The Tide are a massive 17.5-point favorite in this spot at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com and have gone 8-1 against the spread in the past nine meetings with the Gators. Look for Alabama to roll again here and make its case as the nation’s top team despite having one loss.
The top-ranked Tigers will later face the 10th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels (11-1) in the ACC Championship Game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Clemson is consensus 5.5-point chalk, and the favored team has gone 4-0 against the spread in the teams' past four meetings.
North Carolina has also dropped five of the last six games against the Tigers, so back Clemson to stay undefeated and remain the CFP’s No. 1 seed as the ACC champion.
The most competitive matchup figures to be in the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the Hawkeyes playing the fifth-ranked Spartans (11-1).
Iowa is listed as a 3.5-point underdog and has gone 3-9 ATS in its past 12 meetings with Michigan State.
Meanwhile, the Spartans played in the more difficult division and have won 24 of their last 26 conference games. Bet on Sparty to get the job done by handing the Hawkeyes their first loss and covering the spread.
