Sean Goss found a late winner for Manchester United as they claimed a 3-2 victory over Liverpool at Leigh Sports Village on Monday after squandering a two-goal lead.

The Red Devils had been cruising at 2-0 up with 10 minutes to go before Liverpool scored twice in three minutes and looked to have earned a point, but Goss powered home from the edge of the box with a minute remaining.

Elsewhere, Norwich thrashed Southampton 7-2 and Division 1 leaders Sunderland beat Chelsea 3-1 at Cobham.

Monday Recap

Marouane Fellaini was the key man for United as he netted the opener and played a big role in the other two goals against the Red Devils' archrivals.

The Belgian broke the deadlock after a fairly lacklustre opening half an hour as he met Andreas Pereira's cross from the left at the back post and side-footed home.

Liverpool failed to find the equaliser despite a period of dominance in the second half, and Nick Powell looked to have sealed all three points when he converted a tap-in after Fellaini's shot was parried to make it 2-0 in the 79th minute.

However, Jerome Sinclair gave the visitors hope when he netted at the back post four minutes later, and Madger Gomes had United reeling as he slammed home an equaliser with five minutes remaining.

United goalkeeper Sergio Romero was culpable for Liverpool's second having punched his clearance to Gomes in the box, per the Manchester Evening News' Simon Bajkowski:

The Red Devils responded well and reclaimed their lead in the 89th minute, Fellaini laying the ball off to Goss on the edge of the area, who curled home an impressive side-footed finish.

Jamar Loza was the key man for Norwich as he netted five in the Canaries' drubbing of the Saints.

The visitors actually opened the scoring at Carrow Road as Ryan Seager netted after 10 minutes, but Cameron King's double put Norwich ahead before the half hour.

Two from Loza saw Norwich go into the break 4-1 ahead, but Seager's second just after the hour gave Southampton a sniff.

However, three more from Loza in the final 10 minutes put the game well and truly to bed after an impressive showing from Norwich.

Sunderland returned to winning ways against Chelsea having lost to Liverpool last time out.

The Black Cats went ahead through Ethan Robson after 17 minutes before Tammy Abraham's penalty tied things up soon after.

Daniel Wright put the visitors ahead midway through the second half, and Martin Smith netted the third 10 minutes from time after Abraham's second penalty was saved by Max Stryjek.
