Recap

Cahill's opener came after just six minutes as Aaron Mooy floated a free-kick into the box for the Shanghai Shenhua forward to head home.

He then doubled the Socceroos' lead 13 minutes from half-time, scrambling the ball over the line having found it at his feet in the six-yard area.

The 35-year-old completed his treble five minutes later, with Mooy again providing the killer pass as he squared the ball from the left for Cahill to clip home, per Bleacher Report AUS:

The Bangladeshis were punished again for poor defending before the break at the Bangabandhu National Stadium as Jedinak was found in acres of space at the back post and headed home the fourth.

The goal rush was stemmed in the second half as Bangladesh looked slightly more organised at the back, and the Aussies took their foot off the gas.

Cahill had his opportunities for a fourth, but he could not find the back of the net again, and Jedinak had an acrobatic attempt saved late on.

Following the defeat of Kyrgyzstan on Nov. 12, Australia's victory over Bangladesh puts them in a fine position in Group B, having dropped just three points in six matches.

Bangladesh, though, are struggling at the bottom of the pool with just a single point.

Striker Mohammad Al-Sahlawi was the hero for Saudi Arabia as he bagged five goals in their dismantling of Timor-Leste.

Swansea City's Ki Sung-Yueng and Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min both netted doubles for Korea Republic against Laos, with Suk Hyun-jun claiming the match's other goal.

Meanwhile, Pak Kwang-ryong's penalty in first-half stoppage time was the key for Korea DPR in their 2-0 win over Bahrain.
