Liverpool Masters Beat Man U Masters in Singapore Friendly; Hamann, Garcia Score

If you thought the international break would mean a week off from the tension of a fierce Premier League rivalry, think again.

Liverpool took on Manchester United (well, their "Masters" sides did) at Singapore's National Stadium on Saturday.

The Merseysiders won the "Battle of the Reds" 2-0 thanks to goals from Luis Garcia and Dietmar Hamann.

While some of the better-known alumni were at another exhibition match at Old Trafford, there were more than a few familiar names on the team sheets.

Manchester United Masters included the likes of Paul Parker, Karel Poborsky, Louis Saha and Andrei Kanchelskis, while their opponents featured Jerzy Dudek, Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman, among others.

A crowd of over 30,000 were in attendance to witness Garcia's looping first-half header and Hamann's 70th-minute low drive from the edge of the area.
