In two-plus seasons, Chesson had just 52 receptions for 634 yards and four touchdowns entering Saturday's matchup. However, he was a huge reason the 8-2 Wolverines escaped with a 48-41 double-overtime victory when he caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Jake Rudock as time expired. The ensuing extra point tied the game for Michigan.

Chesson's stats weren't aided by overtime, as he didn't catch a pass in either extra frame. It didn't matter. Rudock threw a touchdown in each overtime, and the Wolverines held the Hoosiers on 4th-and-goal in the second overtime to seal the victory.
The junior's performance helped Michigan improve to 5-1 in the Big Ten and kept its East Division title hopes alive. The Wolverines are tied with Michigan State Spartans and one game behind the Ohio State Buckeyes.
