Jurgen Klopp Talks Liverpool Fans, More After Crystal Palace Defeat

Tom SunderlandNov 8, 2015

Jurgen Klopp's unbeaten start as Liverpool manager finally reached its end on Sunday after the Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, their third successive loss to Alan Pardew's side.

Home supporters were seen leaving Anfield early, as goals from Yannick Bolasie and Scott Dann sealed their first Premier League loss since September. However, per Neil Jones of the Liverpool Echo, Klopp said he didn't blame those departing before full time:

With it being so early in his Liverpool tenure, the German wouldn't feel comfortable lambasting fans for any apparent lack of support, and it's true the pressure lies with him and the players to turn things around.

However, Klopp also noted how "alone" he felt after seeing sections of Anfield empty following Palace's second, a blow to morale that's assuredly difficult to come back from:

Dann's goal came in the 82nd minute, leaving what some would call plenty of time to notch an equaliser, although those who took their leave at that point might beg to differ.

The Reds manager was defiant in response to the defeat and insisted he decides "how strong, tired or awake" he and his players are, per Jones, adding that things can certainly improve from this point:

In spite of Sunday's defeat, Liverpool have made a promising start under their new manager, and it shouldn't be forgotten the Reds were impressive in claiming a 3-1 defeat of Chelsea just a week earlier.

A restless fortnight awaits Klopp, though, as he prepares for his first league trip to Manchester City on November 21, a fixture that could easily rectify Sunday's mistakes should his side be capable of clinching a result.
