Best Golazos from World Football This Weekend
As per usual, we've scoured the globe to bring you the very best golazos from the weekend, including efforts from Spain, Russia, Scotland, Argentina, Mexico, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina and, last but not least, England.
Such is the quality of the ranking, there's no room for Sergio Ramos' bicycle kick at Sevilla, Lukas Podolski's powerful volley at Rizespor, Alan Dzagoev's athletic effort and Joe Cole's first goal for Coventry.
This list only considers first-team goals, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek also deserves a nod for his stunning solo effort for Chelsea U21s.
With the honourable mentions taken care of, let us proceed with the rankings. Be warned: The top five goals are exquisite.
10. Prince Buaben (Hearts) vs. Hamilton Academical
1 of 10Hearts maintained their pursuit of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 2-0 win over Hamilton Academical on Saturday.
Prince Buaben opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark with a brilliant long-range drive.
9. Sergio Vittor (Banfield) vs. Olimpo
2 of 10Banfield earned a 2-1 win over Argentinian top-flight rivals Olimpo on Saturday thanks to a looping stunner from Sergio Vittor.
8. Enrique Triverio (Toluca) vs. Cruz Azul
3 of 10Toluca earned a 2-1 victory over Liga MX rivals Cruz Azul on Saturday, scoring two fantastic goals in the process.
Enrique Triverio got the visitors off the mark with a fantastic 45-yard strike.
Toluca's winner was converted by Antonio Rios, with a finish that was arguably just as impressive.
7. Zajko Zeba (Sloboda Tuzla) vs. Zrinjski Mostar
4 of 10"Zajko Zeba's zinger against Zrinjski" sounds like a punishing tongue twister, but it's an apt description of one of the best goals of the weekend.
In the 20th minute of Sloboda Tuzla's Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier Liga meeting with Zrinjski, Zeba noticed the goalkeeper off his line and proceeded to send the ball into the net from 50 yards.
6. Alex Mowatt (Leeds) vs. Huddersfield Town
5 of 10Leeds United can't buy a home win these days, but they scored three unanswered goals at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The third was a left-footed strike from Alex Mowatt that looked like it would break the net.
The technical term for this kind of hit is a "Thunderb-----d."
5. Ablaye Mbengue (Terek Grozny) vs. Spartak Moscow
6 of 10There are few better ways to win a game than by scoring a bicycle kick from the edge of the area.
Ablaye Mbengue secured three points for Terek Grozny on Saturday with his outstanding acrobatic effort against Russian Premier League rivals Spartak Moscow.
And yes, this amazing strike is only good enough for fifth place.
4. Ignacio Scocco (Newell's Old Boys) vs. River Plate
7 of 10Ignacio Scocco sealed three points for Newell's Old Boys at River Plate on Saturday with the kind of volley most strikers dream of scoring.
There's no shame in being beaten at your near post by a rocket like that!
3. Salah Amin (El Entag El Harby) vs. El Gaish
8 of 10El Entag El Harby earned their first win of the Egyptian Premier League season thanks to a brace from Salah Amin on Sunday.
The 34-year-old striker's second was something quite special.
2. Inaki Williams (Athletic Club) vs. Espanyol
9 of 10Inaki Williams made our golazo ranking last time around, and the Athletic Club striker is back this weekend for his stunner against Espanyol.
The 21-year-old's latest stunner involved a delicate flick over a defender followed by a thunderous volley.
In any other week, this probably would have topped our ranking. However, something special happened in Catalonia.
1. Neymar (Barcelona) vs. Villarreal
10 of 10Neymar scored twice in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Villarreal—and his second was nothing short of outrageous.
The Brazilian beat his defender with a cheeky sombrero flick before turning his body and volleying past the 'keeper.
What a strike!
