Champions League Fixtures 2015: Group Schedule, Live Stream and Predictions

Tom SunderlandNov 1, 2015

European football takes centre stage once more this week as Week 4 of the 2015-16 Champions League brings with it another slate of elite continental matchups.

The pick of this week's bunch sees Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain attempt to steal another result from Los Merengues, as they travel to Real Madrid this Tuesday on the back of a 16-match unbeaten streak.

That's before Arsenal make a dreaded return trip to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, where they're looking to replicate the surprise of a 2-0 victory over the Germans on home turf last month.

Los Blancos Edge Defensive Duel with PSG

PSG boss Laurent Blanc would have been pleased to see his side keep a clean sheet in their encounter with Real Madrid last month, even if it was as part of a 0-0 stalemate.

Nevertheless, keeping Rafa Benitez's men at bay for 90 minutes is no small achievement, and Bleacher Report's Jonathan Johnson confirmed the French outfit's defence will undergo some changes for the return leg:

For all the attacking might that marvels such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale give them, it's actually Real's defence that's stood out as their strength above all so far this season.

No team across Europe's top five leagues has conceded fewer goals than Real Madrid this term (four), and goalkeeper Keylor Navas is prepared for the threat Blanc's men pose. He told the official UEFA website (h/t Goal's Alec Fenn):

"

I always try to prepare as well as possible for matches. They have top-quality players who can make life difficult for you at any moment, but I try to prepare for every game in the same way: with training and mental preparation. I want to perform well, so I have to be focused and in the best shape possible.

"

Navas returns to the Real Madrid lineup this week after sitting out Saturday's 3-1 win over Las Palmas, and his presence at the back is sure to give Los Blancos a more assured spine at the back.

Centre-backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane succeeded in quelling the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and former team-mate Angel Di Maria in Paris. One would imagine them capable of doing so again in front of a home audience, and nine goals scored in their last three La Liga matches suggests form is gathering in attack.

Prediction: Real Madrid 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal's Resurgence Continues at Bayern

No matter how bad things seem to get at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger somehow manages to attain form exactly when his critics are at their loudest, even if it's not consistent.

The Gunners are tied at the top of the Premier League after winning five games in a row, but their shock 2-0 victory over Bayern a fortnight ago was partly ruined by a League Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. KICCA succinctly summarised the general reaction to that roller coaster of results:

Of course, Arsenal's second-string lineup against the Owls can't be used comparatively in terms of a form guide, so it's safe to assume the first-team ranks are still capable of challenging the Bavarians.

Centre-back Gabriel Paulista sat on the bench for Saturday's 3-0 win over Swansea City, but the Brazilian said his team are heading to the Allianz this Wednesday looking for the win, per the Daily Mail's Ben Nagle:

"

When we play away, we also have to have a slightly different outlook, but that doesn't mean we will spend the whole game defending.

We are a big team, we are Arsenal and we need to attack because we need the result, but we need to attack with intelligence and make sure we don't suffer a defeat and complicate our situation for the rest of our competition. Everything is possible in football.

"

Der FCB are stuttering exactly when the Gunners require it, too, after Pep Guardiola's side were left frustrated with a 0-0 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday, ending a 10-match winning run.

It's difficult to imagine this being a very open affair given Arsenal are the travelling party and Bayern may now be slightly apprehensive. A win may be hoping for too much, but the Gunners can claim a point.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 1-1 Arsenal
