Riyad Mahrez, 12 Points
Electric winger Mahrez erased a 1-0 deficit for comeback kings Leicester at West Bromwich Albion. He bagged a pair of goals at the Hawthornes to continue his superb start to this season and give City a 3-2 triumph.
His double act with striker Jamie Vardy, who also got his name on the scoresheet, has inspired the Foxes' fine form under new manager Claudio Ranieri, per Squawka:
Mahrez was composed and classy as he turned home a pair of Marc Albrighton crosses. Skill, width and pace from the flanks has been the key to Leicester's season. Mahrez has been the main man for that style.
Laurent Koscielny, 12 Points
As a reward for helping Arsenal keep a third-straight clean sheet in the league, per the club's official site, Laurent Koscielny earned four points. He also scored six points for his goal, Arsenal's second, in a hugely impressive 3-0 away win over Swansea City.
It was more about the result than the performance for the second-placed Gunners at the Liberty Stadium. Koscielny was a big part of the resolve Arsenal showed at a tricky venue.
WhoScored.com provided full details of the former Lorient centre-back's exceptional showing:
This is the type of defensive excellence the free-scoring Gunners will need to maintain over the course of a long campaign if they are finally going to lift a first league title since 2004.
Philippe Coutinho, 11 Points
Pocket-edition playmaker Coutinho was everywhere at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian schemer tore the reigning Premier League champions apart with clever movement and lethal finishing.
Both his goals were well-taken, the first a terrific curling shot from the edge of the area in the dying seconds of first-half stoppage time. He needed a tad more patience for his second, turning away from a defender in the box, before lifting a shot beyond stranded Chelsea stopper Asmir Begovic.
Virgin Media tweeted how productive Coutinho was in the attacking third:
The precocious pass-master is undoubtedly the player new Liverpool gaffer Jurgen Klopp needs to build his team around.
Odion Ighalo, 10 Points
Watford striker Ighalo tormented the West Ham defence all game during the newly promoted side's 2-0 win. His pace and strength was just too much for the Hammers.
It hardly helped that the visitors' own striker, Andy Carroll, gift-wrapped Ighalo's opener. He dallied in his own box and Nathan Ake robbed him. His pass was forced over the line amid a tussle between Ighalo and Aaron Cresswell.
For his second, Ighalo pounced on a weak clearance from James Tomkins. This finish was a lot more emphatic than the first.
He's now the most prolific attacker the Hornets have, according to Squawka:
At the top of the table, Arsenal and Manchester City are really flexing their muscle as the most convincing title contenders. But it's Chelsea's struggles that continue to stand out during this Premier League season.
