Daily Fantasy Football Oct. 30: DFS Stock Up, Stock Down

Rob GoldbergOct 30, 2015

Before drafting your daily fantasy football team, it is important to have all the latest information to ensure you are making the right decisions. Things change every day in the NFL, and any small factor can greatly impact what happens on Sunday.

While there are plenty of good options at each position, keep this stock report in mind heading into the weekend.

Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers ($6,700)

It is understandable to be cautious about picking a quarterback starting his first game in over a month against a quality Cincinnati Bengals defense. However, Ben Roethlisberger apparently is in good shape heading into this divisional matchup, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Before going down, Big Ben was an elite fantasy quarterback with an average of 27.7 fantasy points on DraftKings in his two full games. He totaled 720 passing yards and four touchdowns in those starts, and that came without Le'Veon Bell or Martavis Bryant in the lineup.

With a full assortment of weapons at his disposal, Roethlisberger can once again become one of the top fantasy options in the league for a reasonable price.

Antonio Andrews, RB, Tennessee Titans ($3,300)

It isn't easy getting a read on the Tennessee Titans backfield with Dexter McCluster and Bishop Sankey also getting touches, but Antonio Andrews led the way in Week 7 with 10 carries for 57 rushing yards.

According to Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com, this has earned him more work going forward:

Extra carries will help against a Houston Texans defense that ranks 27th in the NFL against the run. Meanwhile, a favorable matchup for the Titans overall could allow them to play with a lead and actually utilize the run more than they have to this point.

As the team's best goal-line back as well, Andrews has a chance to have a solid day for basically nothing in your budget.

Keenan Allen, WR, San Diego Chargers ($7,700)

The Baltimore Ravens' pass defense has been awful this season. It has allowed the fifth-most passing yards per game, the third-most passing yards per play and fourth-highest opposing quarterback rating in the NFL.

This could be a chance for Keenan Allen to truly break out and show why he is one of the top points-per-reception players in the league. He has already posted great numbers to this point, although a lack of touchdowns has kept him from truly being dominant.

The reality is he should have a big game in Week 8 whether he scores or not, but with the Ravens' poor defense, he has a chance to truly shine. With a number of other receivers costing more, Allen could even provide decent value as a No. 1 option.

Stock Down

Ronnie Hillman, RB, Denver Broncos ($4,600)

At first glance, this is a good value for a starting running back in a good offense with a decent matchup. The problem is Ronnie Hillman still isn't alone in the Denver Broncos backfield, with C.J. Anderson taking away snaps and touches.

According to Pro Football Focus, Week 6 was the only time Hillman earned more than 50 percent of the team's snaps, and that was only 54 percent. If Anderson was truly hurt earlier like he says he was, then the time off from the bye week could lead to more production from the original RB1.

The Green Bay Packers also aren't as bad against the run as you might think. Only two running backs have topped 50 rushing yards against this defense in six games, with Marshawn Lynch and Jamaal Charles being among the limited running backs.

Hillman simply can't be trusted on your team yet when there are better options near the same price.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts ($6,900)

After totaling 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns last game, T.Y. Hilton will likely be a popular pick in Week 8. Of course, both scores came after the team was down 27-0, and Hilton was able to bring in only four of his 15 targets.

The fact Andrew Luck looks his way so often is a good sign, but there is clearly something wrong with the quarterback's accuracy through the first half of the season.

Another problem comes from the matchup, with Hilton likely being shadowed by Josh Norman, per Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer:

PFF rates Norman as the No. 1 cover cornerback in the NFL, and opposing receivers have not done well against him. In a daily fantasy league, you can find a safer pick than Hilton this week.

Jimmy Graham, TE, Seattle Seahawks ($5,100)

The potential for a breakout game is always there, but the Seattle Seahawks have not used Jimmy Graham to his ability, and that doesn't seem likely to change in Week 8.

The Dallas Cowboys have done a good job defending tight ends this season, allowing the second-fewest receiving yards to the position and just one score all year, according to ESPN.com. You can be certain the defense will gear up trying to keep a dynamic weapon like Graham from producing in this one.

With Seattle also showing no interest in getting him involved, you should stay away from Graham this week.
