Don Mattingly Reportedly Will Be Miami Marlins' New Manager
Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly mutually parted ways with the team on Oct. 22 after it failed to reach the National League Championship Series in back-to-back seasons, per the Dodgers, but he reportedly has already found a new gig.
Molly Knight of Vice Sports first reported the news:
"The Miami Marlins have hired Don Mattingly to be their next manager, according to a person with knowledge of the situation who is not yet authorized to speak publicly. Mattingly's deal is for four years, according to the source. He will be the club's eighth manager since 2010. The Marlins are thought to be waiting until after the World Series to make a formal announcement.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman quickly confirmed Knight's report.
Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reported Mattingly's interview went well on Oct. 27.
On Oct. 22, CBS Sports' Heyman broke the news on Miami's interest in the former Los Angeles manager.
The Marlins had been searching for a new full-time manager ever since they canned Mike Redmond in May, and the franchise has interviewed several experienced candidates in recent weeks.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Phil Nevin and Larry Bowa have both had two interviews with the Marlins, but Mattingly emerged as the "favorite" for the team's vacancy.
"I’m still very passionate about managing and hope to get the opportunity in the near future," Mattingly said in a statement released by the Dodgers on Oct. 22, per the Sun Sentinel's Craig Davis.
Miami reportedly has also talked to Manny Acta and Bo Porter about the opening, per Davis.
The Marlins are still in the midst of a rebuild, and a 71-91 season that was mired in turmoil didn't enhance the franchise's prospects. However, bringing a manager like Mattingly aboard should help. He has a career winning percentage of .551, and he helped L.A. capture NL West titles in each of the past three seasons.
