Nick 'Swaggy P' Young Explains Why Los Angeles Is the Best Place to Party

Kyle NewportOct 22, 2015

When your nickname is Swaggy P, you probably know how to have a good time when you hit the town.

Fortunately for Nick Young, he plays in the city he calls "the best place to party." That would, of course, be Los Angeles.

It's no secret Swaggy P likes to act a bit goofy at times and enjoy life. That's just who he is—and we wouldn't want him any other way. Knowing his personality, fans who like to party would be wise to take the Los Angeles Lakers guard's advice when it comes to the hottest spots in the country.

Young revealed to Maxim's Jason Feifer that he considers Los Angeles to be the best party spot in the United States and why. Not only that, but Swaggy P also gave a step-by-step breakdown of how to live it up:

"

Oh, man, L.A. is probably the best place to party. Compared to other cities, man, you don’t have to party until 6 in the morning to really get the job done, unless you really want to. You just got more variety here, and it’s LA—it’s still cool at night, so if you want to take your shirt off after you’ve had a couple drinks and you’re feeling yourself, you can do so.

"

For those who think other cities are also lively at night, Swaggy P did say there were some other places he has been that rival Los Angeles' party scene.

"New York is a close runner-up," Young said, per Feifer. "And Miami is just—you go there if you want to die. You just die in Miami. If you want to sell your soul to the devil, you go to Miami."

This isn't the first time an NBA player has talked about the nightlife in the city he plays in. After seeing his performance improve after getting traded from the New York Knicks to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the middle of last season, J.R. Smith attributed his on-court success to the lack of nightlife in Cleveland.

On a related note, Young's numbers in Cleveland haven't been anything special. He did, however, have a 31-point game there back in 2011.

If you want to take a couple of NBA players' words for it, Los Angeles is a happening place and Cleveland is not. And for those who want to see if Swaggy P knows what he's talking about, be sure to hit his go-to places, listed by Maxim. Who knows? Maybe you'll see him there.
