Nike LeBron 13 'Red White Black Orange' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Tyler ConwayJun 7, 2018

We're less than a month into rollout of the LeBron 13s, and Nike is continuing to go all-in with colorway releases.

Brought to the public officially on Sept. 30, the LeBron 13s have drawn solid all-around ratings since we got an initial sneak peek this summer. The release features a number of new features that look to combine comfort and structure while avoiding bogging down your feet with too much weight. The hyperposite material is kept to the areas around the ankle and toes for support, while the remainder of the shoe is built around a flexible mesh.

"LeBron demands the same excellence and versatility from his footwear as he does from his game," Nike said in a press release. "When our designers set to work on the LeBron XIII, they were determined to exceed his expectations, looking for ways to maximize his explosiveness while delivering extraordinary comfort."

The next in an upcoming series of releases is the "Gym Red" colorway, which will hit stores Oct. 24 ($200 retail). The colorway is exactly what you would expect based on the name, as the shoe is filled with a whole lot of red, mixed with some white trim and accentuating black. There is even some of Nike's Total Orange thrown in, which has become a recent favorite of designers. Finding the Total Orange takes a trained eye, but the way it blends helps the colorway stick out more.

The sleek, red-white-black base almost makes you think of classic Jordans. It's a colorway that almost never goes out of style regardless of how it's structured. Combining nearly any look with the three can stand out in the crowd, but the LeBron 13s do a nice job of separating themselves by highlighting the red over everything else.

Here is how NikeBlog describes the colorway:

"

Solid red covers the shoe's unique upper, comprising Hyperposite accents embedded in what's ostensibly a tightly knit upper — a new generation of Megafuse, perhaps. Black accents deliver on-point contrast, and a white midsole is built atop the innovative Hex-Zoom cushioning system, executed in cool, crisp, translucent blue.

"

As for the shoe itself, LeBron has made it a point to keep the design fresh, something he says has been a staple from the beginning, per Brett Pollakoff of Sporting News:

"

If you look at all my shoes from year to year, there's very little resemblance. Like, some of my favorites are the 7s. And if you look at the 7s to the 8s, it's totally different. You know, the 1s to the 2s, and obviously the 12s to the 13s is different as well. We just kind of always like to take little small pieces here, whether it's the midsole or outsole or upper. We just always like to fine tune it and continue to keep everybody off balance a little bit.

"

The rollout of colorways certainly helps keep things fresh. We'll just have to see what the folks at Nike have in store going forward.
