Stauskas Should be Ready for Start of Regular Season
Monday, Oct. 5
The shooting guard told Brian Seltzer of 97.5 The Fanatic that he expects to be ready to start the regular season and that getting in three days of practice before the injury helped him get introduced to the team.
That's good news for the Sixers, who expect him to play a key role with the team, per Dei Lynam of Comcast SportsNet:
Stauskas, 21, struggled during his rookie season with the Sacramento Kings, averaging just 4.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game. He came over to the Sixers in a trade this offseason that also netted the team Sacramento’s 2018 first-rounder and the right to swap first-round picks with the Kings in 2016 and 2017, among other considerations.
In Philly, Stauskas is a much-needed outside shooter who should complement the team's collection of big men that includes Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel. The chemistry he is able to build with the team's young big men will not only be vital for this season, but it could also make him a key component of the young core the team has tried to build through the draft.
