Cilic Works Hard for Opening Win

Having been given a bye through the first round as the No. 2 seed, Cilic was playing his first match in the 2015 Shenzhen Open on Thursday, and it was far from a breeze.
The 2014 U.S. Open champion started well. Two breaks of serve saw Cilic to a 6-3 victory in the opener, and he looked set to cruise into the quarter-finals.
However, Millman came out fighting in the second set and began to move his opponent around the court, forcing a number of errors.

The Australian pounced on the only break point he was given and did enough to hold on to his own serve to take the match into a third set.
Millman just couldn't keep up the intensity, though, and world No. 14 Cilic showed his quality to see out the third set and book a place in the last eight.
There he will face Korean teenager Chung, who took out British No. 2 Bedene in just 55 minutes on Thursday.
The No. 7 seed's first serve was fairly dismal and the 19-year-old took full advantage, taking the first set 6-2 before pummelling Bedene 6-0 in the second in an impressive performance.

Chinese wildcard Yan Bai was beaten in two sets by fifth seed Adrian Mannarino, but the match finished just 10 minutes short of two hours.
In the opener, both players conceded several break points but only three were converted successfully, Mannarino clinching the key one late on to take the set 7-5.
The pair then exchanged breaks in the second set and eventually a tiebreak was necessary to split the pair, the Frenchman eventually taking it 9-7 to win the match.
He will now face Garcia-Lopez in the quarter-finals after the Spaniard took care of Rosol in straight sets in his second-round match.
