But he was eager to talk up former Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Verratti—as well as Manchester United's Wayne Rooney—when asked who he most liked to watch, per sport360.com:
"Apart from the normal suspects—I'll have to say Leo and Cristiano—I think Morata is an exciting player. Verratti for PSG, I played with him, he's such a great, talented player. And, of course, Neymar. There's so many great players out there. On the England side, I'll have to say Wazza. Wayne [Rooney] is playing so well for United and they've had a good start to the season.
"
The 40-year-old Beckham also backed former clubs United and PSG when asked who he wanted to see win the 2015-16 Champions League, per sport360.com.
The Red Devils have returned to the Champions League after a year's absence but surprisingly lost their opening group game away to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.
A victory is essential at Old Trafford on Wednesday when they take on German club Wolfsburg in their second group match, and Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe is backing the hosts to prevail:
Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal believes it is a realistic aim for his side to win the Champions League by 2017, per BBC Sport.
Such a success would match Sir Alex Ferguson's 2008 Champions League-winning United team, as well as the treble-winning side of 1999 that included a 24-year-old Beckham.
Beckham will be able to see Ronaldo in action on Wednesday when Real take on Malmo in what is sure to be a convincing victory for the La Liga giants.
Meanwhile, Verratti will likely be in the team when PSG take on Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus striker Morata will hope to be on target as the Old Lady clash with Sevilla.
