Daily Fantasy College Football Week 2: Top Sleepers and DraftKings Projections
Week 2 will bring us another fantastic slate of high-profile college football games.
Additionally, there are fantasy sleepers with the potential to chock up a considerable amount of points. This piece will take a look at five of the top sleepers this week, plus point projections for them.
*DraftKings scoring system can be found here.
Sleeper No. 1: UCLA QB Josh Rosen ($8,900)
The inclusion of Rosen may surprise some people. However, he has a chance to rack up a ton of points this week against a lowly UNLV squad.
In his first collegiate game against Virginia, the true freshman went 28-of-35 for 351 yards and three touchdowns. Had a teammate not dropped a potential 75-yard touchdown, his numbers would've been even better.
It was astounding how good Rosen looked for such a young player. His pocket presence was simply sensational in all aspects. Never did Rosen appear flustered or bothered by the pressure Virginia threw at him. The St. John Bosco High School product completed passes to 11 receivers on the afternoon.
Playing UNLV in Week 2, head coach Tony Sanchez has a massive rebuilding job in front of him. The Rebels have won more than two games only three times since 2004. The depth and talent simply doesn't match up with anything UCLA possesses.
Look for Rosen to have a monster statistical performance in about three quarters of play.
Projection: 375 yards passing, 4 TDs (34 points)
Sleeper No. 2: Miami QB Brad Kaaya ($8,800)
The Los Angeles native had a solid first game for the Hurricanes in 2015. Kaaya threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns in a comfortable 45-0 victory over Bethune-Cookman. Once the game was in hand, Kaaya wasn't asked to do too much in terms of throwing the ball down the field.
This week, Al Golden's team faces Florida Atlantic. FAU allowed 47 points and 424 yards passing in a 47-44 loss against Tulsa.
The scoreline above tells us two things. The first is that FAU has a pretty porous secondary. There will be points to be had with Kaaya chucking the football to the likes of Herb Waters and Rashawn Scott. Secondly, the Owls will likely put up some points of their own. This, in theory, would force Kaaya to continue to throw the ball throughout the contest.
Miami should be able to exploit FAU's secondary in the passing game.
Projection: 275 yards passing, 3 TDs (23 points)
Sleeper No. 3: Wisconsin RB Corey Clement ($6,700)
It's not often that a Wisconsin rushing attack gets bottled up, but that's exactly what happened in a 35-17 loss to Alabama. The Badgers rushed for only 40 yards on 21 carries. This equates to a 1.9-yards-per-carry average.

A dark-horse Heisman candidate, Clement had only 16 yards on eight carries. Receiver Alex Erickson led Wisconsin with 25 yards rushing—on one carry.
Expect the Badgers to get back to pounding the rock in their home opener against Miami-Ohio. This program's bread and butter has been rushing the football. In result, a heavy dose of Clement will likely result in a big game statistically.
Projection: 110 yards rushing, 2 TDs (26 points)
Sleeper No. 4: Kentucky RB Stanley "Boom" Williams
Kentucky's dynamic back is one of the most underrated players not only in the SEC but in the country. He put on a show in the opener against Louisiana-Lafayette, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only 10 carries. Boom displayed patience as a runner, as well as power and speed.
In Week 2, his team will be going up against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Steve Spurrier's bunch had trouble slowing North Carolina's ground game in Week 1. The Tar Heels ripped off 208 yards while rushing to the tune of a 6.3-yards-per-carry average.
Williams should be able to put up good yardage in what will be a Kentucky victory (spoiler alert!).
Projection: 120 yards rushing, one TD (21 points)
Sleeper No. 5: West Virginia QB Skyler Howard
The diminutive signal-caller was fantastic in Week 1 versus Georgia Southern. Howard went 16-of-25 passing for 359 yards and two touchdowns in the 44-0 victory. He was excellent at providing the big play. Howard threw a 41-yard touchdown toss and two passes of 57 yards each.
Although he only rushed for seven yards, he did receive nine carries. This signals a concerted effort to involve him in the run game, which in turn could lead to more points.
The Mountaineers face off in Week 2 versus Liberty at home. It should provide Howard with another opportunity to rack up the points. His rushing totals should also improve somewhat.
Projection: 325 yards, 3 TDs, 30 rushing yards (30 points)
