Ryan Day's Ohio State Contract Buyout Details After Back-to-Back Losses vs. Oregon, USC

No. 12 Ohio State was taken down by No. 23 Oregon on Saturday, losing by the final score of 41-28 at Ohio Stadium.

With the Buckeyes suffering their second consecutive defeat after falling to USC on Oct. 31, it isn't hard to imagine the buzz surrounding head coach Ryan Day's job security continuing to grow.

The buyout on Day's contract is worth $75 million, according to Fox Sports.

He previously signed a seven-year deal with the Buckeyes that runs through the 2031 season in Feb. 2025.

This year, Ohio State dropped to 6-3 with Saturday's loss. The Buckeyes also own a 4-2 record in the Big Ten.

Ohio State now holds +7500 odds to win the national championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

It's worth noting that Ohio State starting quarterback Julian Sayin has missed the team's past two games due to a right arm injury, but the Buckeyes were facing an Oregon squad that was also without first-string passer Dante Moore on Saturday.

Luke Fahey started at quarterback for Ohio State in place of Sayin, finishing 36-of-50 for 360 yards and two touchdowns compared to one interception.

The Buckeyes took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Oregon scored 38 unanswered points to turn the game into a blowout. The Ducks thrived offensively, racking up 395 total yards without committing a turnover.

Ohio State standout receiver Jeremiah Smith was visibly frustrated in the third quarter of the contest.

The Buckeyes will attempt to get back on track against Northwestern on Nov. 14.
