Kentucky Trolls Lane Kiffin, LSU After HC Used Viral Fake Quote as Motivator Ahead of Upset Loss

One questionable motivational tactic backfired on LSU coach Lane Kiffin.

Leading up to Saturday's game against Kentucky, Kiffin posted a fabricated quote at the team facility from Wildcats quarterback Kenny Minchey to spur his players on. Kentucky wound up winning and Minchey was responsible for the decisive score as he punched it in from three yards out on a two-point conversion attempt in overtime.

The Wildcats' social media team had the last laugh on Kiffin:

The Tigers coach may have taken a page from his old boss' playbook.

Leading up to the 2016 Peach Bowl, Alabama's Nick Saban and his staff manufactured some proverbial bulletin board to get the players focused ahead of a matchup with Washington. On that occasion, the Tide cruised to a dominant win.

LSU hosts No. 17 Mississippi State in its next game. Coming off a loss, Kiffin shouldn't have to work hard to get his squad in the right frame of mind.
