Kewan Lacy Injury Update, Diagnosis Revealed by Golding After Ole Miss' Win vs. Lane Kiffin, LSU

An X-ray on the shoulder of Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy came back negative, coach Pete Golding confirmed after Saturday's 32-24 victory over No. 7 LSU.

Golding said the Rebels' trainers examined Lacy's shoulder and added some extra padding to get him ready to return to the field. The coach opted instead to leave him on the bench.

Lacy ran for 43 yards on nine carries and put Ole Miss up 10-0 in the first quarter with a five-yard touchdown run.

Midway through the third quarter, the junior was tackled and landed hard on his left shoulder. He exited the contest and didn't return.

In general, Golding didn't lean much on the running game. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss attempted 48 passes, his most in a single game, and threw for 363 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The concern for Lacy went beyond Saturday's highly anticipated matchup. He battled a shoulder issue toward the end of the 2025 season and underwent offseason surgery.

Last year, the 5'11" ball-carrier led the FBS in carries (306) and had 1,567 yards and 24 scores on the ground. While Chambliss garnered some Heisman Trophy votes, Lacy's value was obvious to anybody who watched the Rebels' games.

Ole Miss passed a big test on Saturday but still has dates with No. 20 Missouri, No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Georgia ahead. Having Lacy in the backfield will be important for the offense moving forward.
