Everything Lane Kiffin Said After LSU Lost to Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss in Revenge Game

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin reacted to the No. 7 Tigers' 32-24 defeat at the hands of No. 8 Ole Miss and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss on Saturday night.

"Credit to them, players made plays," Kiffin said during his press conference after the game (0:02 mark). "That's what all week my biggest fear every minute was, when the game is at the end and Trinidad has the ball in his hand. The guy made a lot of plays during the game and did a great job, that's why I said he's the hardest player to play in America. He showed up great today."

Kiffin also revealed that he was glad to finish playing his former team for the first time, as he previously left Ole Miss to sign a seven-year contract worth $91 million with LSU during the 2025 season.

"I was thinking that all week," Kiffin told reporters (2:15 mark). "Especially today. I would've said that in a win or a loss. That was really emotional driving in on the buses for a lot of reasons. I'm not saying this because I lost, I would've said this anyway. It was a lot of emotions of gratefulness for this place and for this six years. It went well beyond football."

"It was just a lot of gratitude for this place and the people that changed my life way bigger than winning a football game," he added.

Kiffin discussed the message he has for his team moving forward as well.

"The game could've kept going the way it was, so I was glad that they battled back in there," Kiffin said (5:51 mark). "Really strained during that third quarter, early fourth quarter. Kind of had them on the ropes. So, we're 0-1 in SEC play. Whether win or loss, I was already ready for that of knowing it feels like we've already played a season with so much emotion of the games. The first and third games, all of this stuff."

"Now we're right back to where we've always been and have eight SEC games to play," he added. "So, there's a lot of football left. Go back home next week and get a win."

The Rebels started off strong on Saturday, jumping out to a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

While LSU was finally able to get on the board with a short touchdown run by Dilin Jones, Ole Miss found the end zone once again to maintain a 24-7 edge at halftime.

The Rebels appeared to be continuing their momentum in the second half after forcing the Tigers to punt on their first drive of the third quarter, but Chambliss subsequently threw an interception.

Kiffin's team capitalized on the opportunity with touchdowns on their next two drives, cutting the deficit to 24-21.

LSU finally tied the game again with a 23-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss quickly responded, going on a 74-yard drive that ended with a touchdown run by Chambliss. Head coach Pete Golding's squad also added a successful two-point conversion.

LSU was able to drive down to Ole Miss' five-yard line on its final possession of the game, but a pass from Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt was intercepted on fourth down to seal the final result.

Chambliss finished 33-of-48 for 363 yards and two touchdowns while getting picked off once. He also rushed for one score.

As for Leavitt, he completed 59.3 percent of his passes for 158 yards and one touchdown compared to one interception. He picked up 63 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well.

LSU fell to 2-1, while Kiffin's former team improved to 3-0.
