Whittingham's Michigan Stay Undefeated, Bryce Underwood's Box Score Stats, Highlights & Draft Stock

No. 19 Michigan put together a strong second-half performance as the team wrapped up a lopsided 52-17 win over UTEP on Saturday.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham's squad was able to emerge victorious after entering the contest as 34.5-point favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Wolverines and quarterback Bryce Underwood are now 3-0 this season.

Underwood's day wasn't perfect, as he lost a fumble in the first quarter. Still, his overall performance was encouraging while he looks to establish himself as a top quarterback prospect in the 2028 NFL draft.

The Wolverines didn't appear to be headed towards a blowout win at first, as the Miners held a 7-0 lead at the end of the opening quarter and maintained a 14-7 edge late in the second.

Michigan eventually tied the game with a touchdown pass from Underwood to JJ Buchanon before taking its first lead of the afternoon with a 49-yard field goal.

The Wolverines were up 17-14 at the half.

Michigan gained plenty of breathing room after halftime, outscoring UTEP 28-0 in the third quarter. The Wolverines found the end zone three times on offense, while defensive lineman Jonah Lea'ea picked off a pass from Miners quarterback EJ Colson Jr. and returned it for a touchdown.

Michigan cruised to the victory in the fourth quarter, as backup quarterback Tommy Carr replaced Underwood.

The Wolverines racked up 431 total yards, with 185 coming on the ground. They also converted nine of their 13 opportunities on third down.

After a narrow season-opening victory over Western Michigan, Whittingham's team has followed it up with a pair of impressive wins.
