Bill Belichick, UNC vs. Dabo Swinney, Clemson Final Box Score, Top Player Stats and Highlights

A late offensive surge lifted Dabo Swinney and Clemson to a 28-20 victory over Bill Belichick's North Carolina at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

The Tar Heels entered the game as a 3.5-point underdog, per FanDuel Sportsbook. They looked to be in control most of the way before giving up two fourth-quarter touchdowns to suffer their first loss of the season.

This game, in many ways, can be split into two parts. The first was the initial 54 minutes of game time that was largely controlled by the Tar Heels. They led by as many as 14 points in the first half, thus snapping Belichick's streak of 67 straight wins with a two-touchdown advantage dating back to his NFL coaching career.

The Tar Heels led 17-15 late in the fourth quarter, but Clemson's offense wasn't getting anything going with zero touchdowns on two red-zone trips up to that point.

Nature intervened with having lightning strikes in the area, resulting in a weather delay of more than two hours that seemed to wake Clemson up.

After play resumed, North Carolina did get a field goal to go up 20-15. It could have been worse since the offense had a first-and-goal from Clemson's eight-yard line.

Clemson finally got the big play it needed on the ensuing possession with a 45-yard run by Davidson to get inside the UNC 10-yard line. He would score two plays later to give the Tigers their first lead of the game.

North Carolina's attempt to retake the lead on its next possession flamed out when Billy Edwards Jr.'s deep shot intended for Jelani Thurman on fourth-and-1 landed incomplete to give Clemson the ball back with 1:54 remaining.

Tyler Brown actually did North Carolina a favor by scoring on a 34-yard run with 1:00 left to play because it gave the Tar Heels the ball back down by eight and a chance to tie.

It didn't work out because Edwards was picked off by Elliott Washington II to end the game.

The loss will take away from a terrific effort by Hall. North Carolina's junior running back had his first career 100-yard rushing game. The Tar Heels as a team racked up 214 yards on 39 carries against Clemson's defense.

Hall, who has yet to find the end zone as a runner, caught his second touchdown pass of the season early in the game.

This was a game that served as a measuring stick of sorts for both teams. North Carolina's 2-0 record included wins over TCU and East Tennessee State.

Clemson split its first two games of the season with a blowout loss against LSU and an uninspired effort in a 22-7 victory over Georgia Southern.

Swinney's side was able to pull out the victory to get over the .500 mark. They have a short week coming up with a Friday matchup against California in Berkeley as they look to run their winning streak to three games.

The good news for Belichick is he has two weeks to get his team to regroup before they play again. The bad news is their next game is against No. 3 Notre Dame on Oct. 3.
