Kamario Taylor Named 'Best QB I've Seen in CFB in A Few Years' by Big Ten Coach amid Breakout Season

Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor drew some high praise thanks to his unexpectedly strong start to the 2026 season.

"He is the best QB I've seen in college football in a few years," said one coach from a Big Ten program, per The Athletic's Bruce Feldman. "His film is absurd. His arm talent is close to the freakiest I've seen from a college kid. It's Joe Milton but with accuracy and shot selection. He's impressively mobile for being 6'4", 230. He's got field vision. He operates from a muddy pocket often and with lots of success."

The coach went on to quip that Taylor is "gonna look awesome" on the Miami Hurricanes in 2027, given that school's recent habit of poaching productive QBs through the portal.

Taylor has gone 38-of-56 for 581 yards and seven touchdowns through Mississippi State's two wins. In the 38-13 victory over Minnesota, he also ran for 86 yards.

In conversations around the best quarterbacks, Taylor wasn't really on many people's radars coming into the year. He was a 4-star recruit but far overshadowed by Bryce Underwood and Keelon Russell within his high school class. He was limited to backup duty behind Blake Shapen as a true freshman as well.

His breakout won't be a surprise to those inside the Bulldogs locker room, though.

"Even as a freshman, you'd go into the cafeteria and the senior defensive linemen would be sitting with him," one source told CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. "He just has that aura with him to where guys are just drawn to him."

We're soon about to discover whether Taylor is the real deal. Mississippi State hits the road to play South Carolina on Saturday and then faces off with No. 20 Missouri, No. 10 Alabama, No. 7 LSU, No. 24 Oklahoma and No. 1 Texas in succession.

If Taylor is still playing at an efficient clip through October, NFL scouts and rival coaching staffs will be taking notice.
