Lane Kiffin, LSU Display 'Bloodbath' Quote from Ole Miss WR on Video Board at Practice

Lane Kiffin is making sure his team is fired up ahead of their matchup against Ole Miss on Saturday.

The LSU head coach put a quote from Ole Miss wide receiver Deuce Alexander on the team's video board during practice. Alexander said the game is going to be a "bloodbath."

"It's gonna be a great matchup," Alexander told reporters this week. "Just get ready; it's gonna be a bloodbath."

The matchup between the Tigers and Rebels this Saturday is sure to be on every college football fan's watchlist as Kiffin returns to his former team. Kiffin spent six seasons at Ole Miss before leaving for LSU last November.

Kiffin is expecting a hostile environment in Oxford, with all of that anger directed towards him rather than the team as a whole.

"I mean, I guess there's real safety issues and stuff, so there's people that have a plan for that. It is what it is," Kiffin told reporters on Monday. "But I told the players today, you don't have anything to worry about as far as attention on you all week. There's gonna be so much attention, hatred, everything on me that you just get to go play."

More than a meeting between a head coach and his former team, LSU and Ole Miss' matchup could have major SEC and College Football Playoff implications. Both teams are ranked inside the AP Top 10 after starting the season undefeated, and a win for either side would be a huge resume builder.

"That says to me it's the most relevant matchup of these two teams in 64 years," Kiffin said, per Brett Martel of the Associated Press. "So, I think that's a really neat thing that we were able to be part of building a program (in Mississippi) that Pete's doing a great job of continuing it as a top-10 program.

"When we got there, they had won four games (in 2019). And when we got here eight months ago, (the Tigers) were 7-6. So, I think it's a really good thing that I think a lot of people could look at it and say, 'Hey, both sides are doing really well, and both sides won.'"

The rivalry matchup between LSU and Ole Miss is almost always interesting, but it's fair to say that this is the most anticipated meeting in either program's history. The Rebels will be looking to prove they're better off without Kiffin, while Kiffin wants to send a message with a win over his former school.

Needless to say, all eyes will be on Oxford at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
