The Colorado Buffaloes' home opener came in style with a 52-21 victory over Weber State as Deion Sanders and the team moved to 2-0 to kick off the 2026 season.

Colorado was a massive 34.5-point favorite over Weber State on Saturday, per Fanduel Sportsbook, living up to the hype behind a standout performance from sophomore quarterback Julian Lewis.

Hot off an exhilarating Week 1, one-point win over Georgia Tech thanks to a blocked field goal as the clock expired, the Buffs opened the season 2-0 for the first time since 2023.

Lewis threw for 124 yards on 14-of-27 attempts with one touchdown in the season opener.

Turning around in Week 2 against a 1-1 Weber State team, Colorado put 10 toes to the ground and dominated the Big Sky school behind a standout performance from its sophomore quarterback.

Lewis threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter, connecting with DeAndre Moore Jr. for 66 yards, Joseph Williams for 63 yards and Ernest Campbell for 48 yards. Lewis did fumble on a sack, but his impressive offensive performance overshadowed the mistake in the first quarter.

Adding to his impressive first half, Lewis rushed for a touchdown and connected with Williams again for another score, while running back Micah Welch ran one in as the Buffs took a commanding 42-14 lead into the break.

Lewis entered halftime with 331 yards on an 83 percent completion rate, four passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Lewis led the team out of halftime, powering the offense down the field to set up Elliot Arnold for a 52-yard field goal and add three quick points.

With a 31-point lead secured, Lewis was sent to the bench to watch his team finish out the victory.

The undefeated start is an encouraging sign of a potential turnaround year for Sanders, who led the Buffaloes to a 2024 bowl game against the BYU Cougars but struggled last season, finishing with just three wins.

Colorado will look to keep the streak going as they hit the road to play the Northwestern Wildcats next Saturday.
