ASU HC Talks Shortened 4th Quarter in Blowout Win, 'I Didn't Even Know That Was Legal'

Arizona State was leading Morgan State 70-7 heading into the fourth quarter of Saturday's blowout win when the two teams mutually agreed to shorten the fourth quarter to 10 minutes.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham said Morgan State head coach Damon Wilson requested the shortened time and he agreed, though added he didn't even realize it was something that could be done before he was approached by referees regarding the proposal.

"I've never been a part of a game like that. I didn't even know that was legal, but I learned something today," he told reporters. "When he asked to shorten it, I said, 'Whatever he wants, we'll do.'"

It was a mercy. Arizona State accumulated 681 yards of total offense, led by quarterback Cutter Boley's 387 yards and six touchdowns through the air and three different receivers posting 100-yard games. Reed Harris led that group with six catches for 137 yards and two scores.
