Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell made a bold prediction for himself and wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams after the Crimson Tide opened their 2026 season with a 48-10 win over East Carolina on Saturday.

"At the end of the season you're going to be looking at the best duo in the country," Russell told reporters after the game.

Russell made his first career start on Saturday, while Coleman-Williams is beginning his third season at Alabama.

Russell finished 18-of-30 for 256 yards without tossing a touchdown or an interception. He also made plays with his legs, rushing for a team-high 86 yards on 13 attempts while finding the end zone on one occasion.

Coleman-Williams dropped two passes in the second quarter and lost a fumble, but was still productive overall. He hauled in five receptions for 130 yards, amassing more receiving yards than all other Alabama pass-catchers combined.

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer discussed Coleman-Williams' performance after the game.

"Yeah, he went out there, made some contested catches too," DeBoer said, via ESPN. "You know we're gonna keep feeding him. He's a relentless worker, and he's gonna keep getting the ball."

Alabama is looking to take another step forward under DeBoer, as the school is coming off a 2025 season in which it finished with an 11-4 record and advanced to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

If Russell and Coleman-Williams are able to establish themselves as the top duo in the country, it isn't difficult to imagine the Crimson Tide going on a longer CFP run.
