Deion Sanders Reacts to Shedeur Attending Colorado's Season Opener in Emotional Video After Win

Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders understandably got emotional while talking about what it meant for his son, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, to attend the Buffaloes' 14-13 season-opening win over Georgia Tech in Atlanta and walk off the field with him on Friday evening.

"Y'all see a coach, you see Prime, you see someone that has dealt with success in certain areas of life," Sanders said, per Bri Amaranthus of Colorado Buffaloes on SI. "Some of them have made a multitude of mistakes as well. But y'all forget, like, I'm a real loving, caring father. And that's my son, man. So I feel it."

Shedeur Sanders, who will start this season as the Browns' backup quarterback, is getting ready for the beginning of Cleveland's 2026 campaign, which kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Jacksonville Jaguars. But the ex-Colorado signal-caller (2024 and 2025) took some time to visit his old team on Friday. Sanders was quite happy.

"For him to, you know, get out of practice and make it to this game, I think he's going to fly back with us," Sanders said. "He's going to spend a couple days with his dad. Like, I love that."

Sanders, who is a father to two daughters and three sons, also spoke about what fatherhood meant to him.

"I love fatherhood. I love fatherhood. I really do," Sanders said. "I wasn't fathered like I'm a father. So some people can take the wrong and keep it going wrong. Some people can take the wrong and make it right."

Colorado enjoyed a thrilling win in Atlanta. The Buffaloes were down 13-7 with 1:40 remaining, but quarterback Julian Lewis drove his team 75 yards in 1:03 capped by a 20-yard touchdown pass to tight end Charlie Williams.

Georgia Tech stormed right back and gave itself a chance with a 45-yard field goal attempt, but defensive back Boo Carter came through with a huge block to preserve the win.

And with that, Deion and Shedeur Sanders got to walk off the field in victory.

Colorado's next game will be Saturday, Sept. 12 at home against Weber State.
