Sunday Recap
Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal
Arsenal bounced back from their disappointing opening day defeat, navigating a tricky away tie against Alan Pardew's resilient Crystal Palace.
The Gunners' encouraging early start to the game was rewarded with a goal after 16 minutes, with Olivier Giroud finding the net with his acrobatic volley.

Palace responded well after going behind and equalised shortly before the half-hour mark when Joel Ward ran onto James McArthur's lay-off and fired powerfully past Petr Cech from 20 yards.
Former Premier League defender Rio Ferdinand believes the Gunners won't be capable of challenging for the title until they can improve defensively:
However, as Arsenal stats expert Orbinho notes on Twitter, there are encouraging signs the north London side could make a run for first place:
Shortly after the restart, Arsenal were once again ahead when the impressive Alexis Sanchez directed a firm header on goal which defender Damien Delaney was unable to clear, the strike ultimately being ruled an own goal by the Irishman.
The Eagles refused to surrender without a fight, but the visitors saw out the game to get off the mark.
Manager Arsene Wenger hailed the importance of the victory:
Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium in their next match in what promises to be an exciting clash, and they will take confidence from their performance here.
Crystal Palace face a potentially difficult match with Aston Villa, but the Eagles can earn a positive result against Tim Sherwood's side.
Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea
Manchester City continued their excellent start to the season by gaining a crucial three points against title rivals Chelsea.
Sergio Aguero, restored to the starting lineup in place of Wilfried Bony, was at his rampant, dangerous best throughout and in truth could have scored more.
The Argentinian showed his intent from the kick-off as he immediately enjoyed his first sight of goal, before testing Asmir Begovic several more times until he broke the deadlock after 32 minutes.

A one-two with Yaya Toure on the 18-yard line allowed Aguero to slip into the box, where he shrugged off the challenge of Gary Cahill and slotted home.
Rio Ferdinand again took to Twitter, this time to give the striker high praise indeed:
Vincent Kompany doubled the Sky Blues' tally in the second half, climbing higher than Branislav Ivanovic to head home his second of the campaign.
Fernandinho added a deserved third as City ran riot over Chelsea's defence, thumping a low strike into the bottom corner after pouncing on a failed attempt to clear.
Pundit Gary Lineker enjoyed City's sublime display:
In their next game, the Sky Blues face Everton, who produced a similarly wonderful performance on Saturday. With Aguero already looking deadly up front, though, the Toffees have a tough task on their hands to keep out the Argentinian.
Chelsea meanwhile are now five points behind the Citizens and Manchester United. While it's far too early for talk of a crisis at Stamford Bridge, it's clear not all is well behind the scenes.
If the Blues can restore an air of positivity to the club off the field and possibly make more inroads in the transfer market, then there's no doubt they can return to their high standards. But they need to do it sooner rather than later.
