Draymond Green Explains Projected Role if LeBron James Joins Warriors, Compares to Former NBA Player

Draymond Green expanded on what he sees as his potential role on the Golden State Warriors should his team add LeBron James in a Monday episode of his podcast The Draymond Green Show.

Green spoke around the 12:00 mark about a Sunday post on Threads in which he stated the Warriors would run their offense around James should the NBA's all-time leading scorer come to the Bay Area.

"I'd become PJ Tucker. Greatest corner 3pt shooter ever," Green wrote Sunday on Threads.

Green added on his podcast, "Number one, the people that start coming out of the woodworks like, 'PJ Tucker, great three-pointer shooter?' You better go check PJ Tucker's scoring... won't be tolerating any PJ Tucker corner three-pointer shooting disrespect here."

Green went on to expand on the offensive setup he was envisioning with both him and Stephen Curry on the court with James.

"I'll always have the ability to go get in the pick-and-roll and make some plays, but if you've got LeBron James and Steph Curry in a pick-and-roll... you'd better go find a role. You'd better go find a spot so you can be valuable," Green said.

"If those two guys are in pick-and-roll, for me, the most valuable spot's going to be, for me, is to be in the corner... I know what spot would be open is the corner. So you go to the corner, and you knock them down."

Green's comments after he attempted a career-high 4.6 three-pointers per game last season while shooting 32.6 percent from deep through 68 games last season.

Whether James actually ends up joining Green and the Warriors might not be settled anytime soon.

Green said around the 26:45 mark of his podcast he thought NBA commissioner Adam Silver might have delayed James' upcoming announcement by stating the league was waiting on him to sign another contract to finalize the 2026-27 schedule.

James responded last week by saying he thought Silver's comments were "crazy."

"Adam saying that is not going to speed up LeBron's decision at all," Green said. "If I know LeBron well, if anything, it might slow his decision down a little more because that's just how Bron is."

Both Green and Curry have already made pitches to James, who ESPN's Shams Charania previously reported is expected to choose between the Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
