While we certainly can't know everything that FIFA has in store for the closing ceremony or the halftime show, we do know which performers are expected to headline both events. Post Malone was recently announced as the headliner for the closing ceremony.
"At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament's journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world's attention turns to the two finalists," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.
Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robbie Williams are also slated to perform and are expected to sing an updated version of the FIFA anthem "Desire."
Streaming star IShowSpeed is also listed as a performer for the closing ceremony. While his role in the show was initially unclear, it appears that he'll be performing his song "World Cup (Champions)" during the event.
Hollywood legend Tom Cruise is expected to be a "special guest" of the closing ceremony, though his role remains unclear. Given his penchant for performing stunts, it could be stunt-related. It could also involve a marketing tie-in for Cruise's upcoming movie Digger.
EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to sing the U.S. National Anthem before the final gets underway.
Once Argentina and Spain go to intermission, fans will be treated to another star-studded performance, possibly even bigger than the closing ceremony, despite a shorter time frame.
Madonna, Shakira, BTS, and Justin Bieber will headline a halftime show curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin.
"This was always about bringing together the world's top performers and creating a real moment of collaboration and unity," executive producer guy Carrington said, per Ethan Millman of The Hollywood Reporter. "Chris wanted it to feel representative of the world, and so we have performers from all corners of the globe alongside these A-listers."
Coldplay is expected to make an appearance as well, along with the PS22 Choir, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and select Muppets and Sesame Street characters.
While the closing ceremony is set to be a 90-minute affair, the halftime show will be condensed so as not to disrupt the rhythm of the World Cup final itself.
"Tune in Sunday," Carrington said, per Millman. "It's an action-packed 11 minutes."
