Anthony Davis Says He Talked to LeBron James About Joining Wizards Amid NBA Free Agency Rumors
Anthony Davis discussed the possibility of LeBron James joining him on the Washington Wizards in free agency.
"Maybe," Davis said Friday at Fanatics Fest. "We had some conversations."
James and Davis were previously teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019-25, winning a championship together in 2020.
The Wizards aren't among the favorites to add James, as ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday that the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers were perceived to be in a group by themselves as they pursue the 22-time All-Star.
It's worth noting that the Warriors are planning to sign James and trade for Davis, per Charania (h/t ESPN's Anthony Slater).
Wizards general manager Will Dawkins reportedly isn't interested in trading Davis, though.
Washington wrapped up a 17-65 finish last season, but is looking to climb up the Eastern Conference standings with Davis, Trae Young and AJ Dybantsa leading the way during its 2026-27 campaign.
