LeBron James' Funny Reaction to Tyrese Haliburton Recruiting Him to Pacers in Free Agency Revealed
Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton revealed LeBron James' response to his recent attempt to recruit him in free agency.
Speaking at Fanatics Fest on Thursday, Haliburton divulged that he contacted LeBron about joining the Pacers prior to the announcement that James was leaving the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron's simply texted crying laughing face emojis back to Haliburton:

LeBron refuses to give scoop on next team
James is going to play elsewhere next season after spending the past eight campaigns with the Lakers, but it almost certainly won't be in Indiana, as Haliburton noted that LeBron's response brought an end to his recruitment attempts.
On the surface, James signing with the Pacers may seem laughable given that they had the second-worst record in the NBA last season at 19-63.
However, the Pacers reached the NBA Finals one season earlier, pushing the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games.
The biggest reason for Indiana's decline was the absence of Haliburton, as the two-time All-Star missed the entire 2025-26 campaign while recovering from a torn Achilles.
Haliburton will be back next season alongside a talented core that also includes four-time All-Star forward Pascal Siakam and former Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac.
On top of that, James and Haliburton previously spent some time together as teammates, as they were both part of the United States men's basketball team that won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Despite that, James quickly dismissed the idea of joining the Pacers, based on Haliburton's account.
That doesn't necessarily come as a huge surprise since James' agent, Rich Paul, has already given some insight into the teams LeBron is considering.
On a recent episode of his Game Over podcast (h/t McMenamin), Paul showed off a whiteboard that listed the 10 teams on James' radar.
The Pacers were absent from the list, which included the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs.
Haliburton shot his shot, and although it clearly didn't go in, his willingness to go big-game hunting for the Pacers could potentially pay off in the future.
